Typically, the ability to create flows so naturally for me late into the night when I am alone with my thoughts, facing the battle with my mental illness head-on with nothing to distract me. Ironically, some of my best work comes from these moments of sorrow, and improvisation. I can listen to my mind and my body, and allow them to just simply be. I can help them both to keep healing through my art.
I can hope that even if it’s not “portfolio-quality work”, that the emotion devoted to each piece can be conveyed to the viewer. My goal is to help inspire and remind others that they aren’t alone in their struggles.
Our minds and bodies need space to explore, to cope, to be tended to. We need to allow ourselves to accept the flaws of our spirits, and our art. Allow life to be imperfect (because it always will be), and allow life to happen for you just as it’s meant to.
... but absorbing all of the life lessons and experiences you’ve had (good and bad), is part of being human. It is what makes us our own unique, individual selves.
Embrace it, and find the potential to grow from it in any positive ways that you can.❤️
